Motivation for committment in the Academic Society Nursing Economics
Economic questions become increasingly important for nurses and other health professionals. We are faced with concepts such as effectiveness, appropriateness and cost-effectiveness in different health care settings on a daily basis. From my point of view, it is crucial to have an AS Nursing Economics who support nurses in analyzing, generating and promoting best practices in the field of nursing economic.

The health care system is a market with unique features. Various demands need to be covered by insurances and public subsidies which leads to questions on how to best distribute these. Over- and undersupply are often used as buzzwords, but how over- and undersupply impact resources and health states can ultimately be described, analyzed and adjusted by nurses, this calls for a dedicated economic perspective within the various health care settings.
The AS Nursing Economics is an opportunity for me to establish a proper transversal language and to launch economic debates from an academic nursing perspectives.

Motivation for committment in the Academic Society Nursing Economics
Economic issues have gained relevance in the healthcare sector during the last decades. Nurses in senior positions are increasingly challenged to assume responsibility not only regarding service effectiveness and quality but also about the efficiency of care delivery. I do hence very much appreciate being able to exchange ideas about this important topic with nursing experts and nursing scientists from other institutions and specialties on a national level. This cooperation and exchange enriches and facilitates my work as a lecturer and researcher at SUPSI.

Professional role (2024)
Associate Professor at the Institute of Higher Education and Research in Health Care(IUFRS). Vice director of Education of IUFRS, University of Lausanne
Clinical expertise/ research focus
My research focuses on the prevention of adverse events associated with hospitalisation of the older people. I designed the "Le CHUV, hôpital adapté aux aînés" programme supported by the canton of Vaud's Vieillir 2030 programme, and I'm developing clinical decision-making aids based on artificial intelligence to predict complications associated with hospitalisation of the elderly, in collaboration with the EPFL.
I am also developing research projects on transitional care for the older people between hospital and home care, with a particular focus on the implementation of advanced practice nursing roles in home care.
My interest in joining the Academic Society Nursing Economics is linked to the evaluation of advanced practice roles in home care, and the development of a model for financing the activities of APNs in home care.

Again and again it is said: Care is indispensable. But how much should care cost? How is its value measured? Who provides it, who receives it and who pays for it?
These are just a few questions that I would like to discuss and help to develop possible solutions, at least on a small scale.
