Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care

A warm welcome!

We at AFG Nurse Practitioner* - Primary Care are interested in the concerns of our colleagues in outpatient primary care. With you as a nurse practitioner, we would like to strengthen our role model in primary care together and establish it throughout Switzerland.

We are happy to accept registrations or questions at the following e-mail address: nppc@vfp-apsi.ch und info@vfp-apsi.ch

Isabelle Mathier and Rahel Hottinger, Co-Presidents AFG Nurse Practitioner - Primary Care

*Nurse Practitioner is a role of the overarching designation Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), which primarily means that a Master's degree in nursing science is required. Under the APN umbrella concept in Switzerland, we have so far mainly distinguished between the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and NP fields, with NPs aiming for a clinical focus in the direct care of patients, primarily in primary care (Lauber et al., 2022).

NPs cover a wide range of healthcare services such as:

  • Treatment of acute, chronic and complex health problems
  • Health promotion
  • Disease prevention
  • Health education and counseling for patients and their families (AANP, 2022).
