OST professor becomes part of an EU task force
Dr. Manuel Stadtmann, member of the AFG psychiatric care, becomes part of an EU task force. As Head of the Competence Center and Professor for Mental Health at OST - Ostschweizer Fachhochschule, he has been appointed by Mental Health Europe as a member of the new European Taskforce for Co-Creation. Co-creation is a collaborative approach in which all stakeholders in the field of mental health work together on an equal footing to promote positive mental health in a person-centered and human rights-based way.
New position paper: Peer work CH
Peer work and thus the strengthening of the consideration of experiential knowledge in psychiatry is an elementary component of person-oriented support and treatment of people with mental health problems. In Switzerland, peer work in psychiatry has existed for around 15 years. Nevertheless, there are still obstacles and hurdles to further development. Together with the Swiss Society for Social Psychiatry (SO-PSY) and the two umbrella organizations for peer work in Switzerland (Peer+ and re-pairs), AFG Psychiatric Nursing was actively involved in the development of a position paper on peer work in Switzerland.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner [PMHNP]
In autumn 2021, the new specialization "Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner" (PMHNP) will start in the Master's degree course in Nursing at Bern University of Applied Sciences BFH with the first psychiatry-specific modules. With the collaboration and participation of various members of the AFG Psychiatric Nursing, who are active in practice, teaching and research, a practice-oriented and well-founded range of courses has been developed. The perspective of those affected is involved from the beginning of the course and, where possible, peers/affected persons/relatives are included in all learning units and modules. The specialization enables Master's students to specialize in the care and support of adults with mental illness in various care structures. With the new course, BFH is strengthening the "mental health" care sector and at the same time promoting advanced practice roles in nursing.

Suicide prevention
SERO - Suicide Prevention: Unified Regional Organization
Main project manager SERO, Michael Durrer, MScN - Lucerne
Caroline Gurtner, MSc - Zurich
AFG Psychiatric Nursing is involved in the SERO project support group and is represented by Caroline Gurtner, Co-President of AFG Psychiatric Nursing.
The SERO project (Suicide prevention: Einheitlich Regional Organisiert) implements four central measures: Suicide risk assessment using the PRISM-S method, safety plan, Ensa course for relatives (suicide prevention) and self-management app. These measures optimize self-management in the event of suicide risk, increase the self-efficacy of people at risk of suicide and their relatives and promote coordinated and networked care by professionals in the region. The trialogical understanding enables joint suicide prevention through shared responsibility.
