The Role of Specialized Care in Geriatric Oncology
The Academic Society for Oncology Nursing cordially invites you to this online webinar. The focus is on the complex care of older adults with cancer in primary care. Learn how comprehensive assessments are translated into multidisciplinary treatment plans and how age-appropriate oncology care can be structured from an ethical and communicative perspective.
Target Audience:
Advanced practice nurses working in oncology and primary care, as well as all interested healthcare professionals
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Geriatric Assessment: Participants will learn to lead and coordinate comprehensive geriatric assessments (CGA) in oncology and to integrate the results into multidisciplinary care plans.
- Management Strategies: Safely apply geriatrically adapted pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies during treatment and symptom management.
- Ethical Reflection: Identify ethical dilemmas related to overtreatment, undertreatment, and patient autonomy in older adults.
- Advisory Role: Strengthen one's own role in the development of institutional standards for age-appropriate cancer care.
- Communication: Reflect on communication strategies that promote shared decision-making with patients and their families regarding risks, prognosis, and care goals.
